Welcome to Underdog the Blog
A major research study conducted by the Barna Research Group shows that over half of everyone who has an active faith in their teen years lose interest in their 20’s. And for most of those whose faith fades in their early adult years, the passion never comes back. Never.
Personal experience confirms the troubling statistics. From where I’m standing, at the far edge of my 20′s, many of the friends I grew up with in church have left the faith altogether. Many more have seen their spiritual growth sputter as they’ve transitioned into the careers and relationships of adulthood.
Clearly, the late teens and twenties is challenging decade for Christian young people. Believers entering those first years of adult life face education, careers, relationships, and materialism against the odds. Chances are, their faith won’t survive. They are underdogs. And the manuscript on this blog: Underdog: A no-nonsense guide to preparing for a life that matters is for them. It’s a frank, simple handbook for not just surviving the transition to adulthood, but growing into a thriving, winsome and authentic representative of God inside our world.
I encourage you to edit, discuss and suggest. To get started, browse each chapter on the chapters page. You can read the embedded copy or download and print pdf hard copies. For more context, check out the about page, or read the introduction.
Perhaps this project, which is an underdog itself, can become something God uses in a significant way in the lives of the underdogs we all love.
Thanks for your help!
